Trinity English Lutheran Church

-A A +A
1929, Margaret Read. 1966, sanctuary, and 1989, additions, Robert Sass. 2200 Broadway, northeast corner of Pine Ave.

A modest Gothic Revival church of uncoursed, narrow blocks of red sandstone, Trinity English Lutheran has an expansive north addition (1989) that is sympathetic to the original and yet makes a contemporary statement. Along the west street front, the original parapeted gable end is repeated by the 1980s addition to the north and a gabled face dormer in the crossing roofline above a panel of stained glass. The sanctuary (1966, Robert Saas) is topped by a futuristic, freeform spire with narrow, vertical bands of stained glass.
