Lawrence Halprin, who designed San Francisco's Embarcadero, among other urban parks, borrowed colors and massing from Colorado's sandstone foothills for this 100-foot-wide landscaped corridor. The park incorporates the Daniels and Fisher Tower in a narrow urban canyon created by stepped, raised planting areas of ruddy concrete. Sunken walkways and courtyards lead to fountains, some with paths through them. Berms of evergreen and deciduous plantings suggesting mountain settings screen the park from the street.
