Writer Square

-A A +A
1981, Barker, Rinker, Seacat and Partners. 1500 block of Larimer St.

This full-block development has been applauded as a well-designed downtown residential-retail complex. Its graceful archways, corbeled brick trim, and people-oriented scale mesh with neighboring Larimer Square. A courtyard and passageway separate the twelve-story office building at the corner of 16th and Larimer streets from a lower-rise complex of town houses with commercial spaces on the ground level. Open space, red brick, and greenery make this a bold departure from cold, fortress-like architecture epitomized by Larimer Place (1980), just across the street.
