Damascio House

-A A +A
1895, Frank Damascio. 3611–3615 Osage St.

Frank Damascio, one of Colorado's many Italian stonemasons, helped build the Brown Palace Hotel, the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, and other Denver landmarks. In this eclectic house for his family, he used red and gray stone in alternating courses of rough- and smooth-faced stone. A central bay rises full height to a polygonal flared roof topped by a finial. Round and pointed arches of rough stone lead to recessed porches, with small, decorative turrets at each side of the front facade. Fancy stone posts and wrought iron fencing guard the front yard. Built as a double, this house later served as a convalescent hospital run by the builder's daughter, Elisa Damascio Palladino.
