Starr Manor

-A A +A
1901. 901 Palmer Ave. (southwest corner of 9th St.) (NR)
  • (Carol M. Highsmith Archive, Library of Congress, Prints and Photographs Division)

Wonderfully preserved, this impressive frame Queen Anne Style house has a wrap-around porch and multigabled roof with spindles, pendants, and sunburst detailing. A jumble of angled dormers and various window types punctuate vertical boxcar board siding and decorative second-story shingling. At the second story the rounded entry bay becomes a rounded window bay aligned with third- and attic fourth-story pedimented dormers, which have elaborately framed windows.
