Unlike the Kohler House, this L-shaped clapboard cottage with modest additions has a period porch, as well as a fine square bay window. John Hough, the 1876 Democratic candidate for governor of Colorado, was the town's leading civic and commercial entrepreneur. He also built the Miners and Merchants Bank ( HN03) and the Hough Block ( HN05) in downtown Lake City.
