Although modest in size, this well-proportioned and well-preserved commercial building illustrates the innovative use of signage with stylized raised white letters set against blue metal panels as dominant design features within the International Style. To the right of the door, rough-faced beige and pink stone fronts a single pier. The play of solids versus voids and contrasting textures are typical of this firm’s work. The store’s continued operation attests to the diverse economy of downtown Savannah.
