The Police Barracks, one of the oldest actively used police facilities in the country, occupies a residual strip of land between the eastern edge of Colonial Park Cemetery (6.21) and Habersham Street. Its tripartite, three-story Italianate facade echoes the rhythmic patterns of nearby row houses. The building was expanded to the rear beginning in 1936 and in 1965 a new entrance was built facing Habersham Street, with the historic front entrances filled in with brick.
