The side-gabled Moore-Whitaker House (1857; 201 Margin) was erected by carpenter-builder John Moore as his own residence. Projecting from the matched-board facade with paneled pilasters, its full-height columned portico features Tower of the Winds capitals. Moore also built the Golladay-Bondurant House (c. 1852) at 501 Margin, which has octagonal columns in front of its matched-board facade.
