Sutton County Public Library

-A A +A
1996, Phillips Swager Associates. 306 E. Mulberry St.

Dallas-based Phillips Swager used local stone in a random rubble bond for the veneer, with green glass windows set in aluminum frames and mullions, and a bright metal pyramidal roof. A two-story-tall tower with clerestory windows and deep eaves is tucked into a corner of the building and marks the entrance. The resulting character is of a rural vernacular, in contrast with the fine stonework of the courthouse a block away.
