An extreme example of the stripped classical mode made popular nationwide by Philadelphia architect Paul P. Cret, the building exudes authority as the headquarters of the local newspaper. The cubic massing of the limestone exterior is broken only by the slight projection of the central entrance pavilion on the Brambleton Avenue facade. Fluted pilasters without bases or capitals define the corners and divide the banks of tripled windows. A streamlined cornice terminates the design. The newspaper presses were once located in a low wing behind the main building.
