At the top of the parade ground, parallel to the waterfront, is a series of six officers' quarters. Five are designed for two families, one side a mirror of the other. They consist of two and a half stories with cross-gable pavilions and generous porches. The single house at one end was assigned to the chief surgeon and the larger house at the other end, just off the parade ground, was the bachelor officers' quarters. Next to the latter, on the downhill side, was the commanding officer's quarters (built in 1906), now converted to a hotel and linked to a neighboring building.
