Rogers City

William Rogers, a military surveyor, filed the original plat of the village in 1871. Rogers City is the seat of Presque Isle County government; it became a city in 1944. From the adjacent port of Calcite, large shipments of limestone of Middle Devonian age quarried near Rogers City are prepared and loaded into lake freighters.
