Ethyl Corporation Research Center

-A A +A
1994, Albert Kahn and Associates. Southeast corner of Belvidere and Spring sts.

This six-story, 215,000-square-foot complex, designed by the great factory designer's successor firm, which is still in business in Detroit, houses petroleum-additive research facilities and engine-testing cells. Landscaping disguises many of the building's functions. A two-story, golddomed lobby structure that gestures toward the company's headquarters buildings marks the building's entrance on Spring Street.
