A surprising composition for the mid-1930s, this is a rather pure example of a mid-1920s Beaux-Arts building. There is a slight emphasis on the plain, unadorned wall surfaces, but this is the only strong “modern” element present. The central portion of the building is treated as a pavilion by means of a two-story porch. Within is a small Federal Art Project mural whose subject is based upon the cultivation of corn.
