Shaver House

-A A +A
1909–1911. 2200 Linden Dr. S.E.

Set in a deep woods of leafy deciduous trees, far back from the road, is this Prairie-style house. A wide porch with a thinly detailed cantilevered roof dominates the front of the house. Above, a long band of casement windows has been placed directly under the roof soffit. The interior is light and airy with extensive glass areas. The walls and ceilings are articulated by rectangular geometric banding of wood strips. The windows reveal a treasure of leaded glass, suggesting pairs of elongated flowers. The grounds, landscaped within the English Picturesque Garden tradition, were design by the landscape architect Ossian Simonds.
