In the two-story Casson house the popular Streamline Moderne edges over and comes close to the High Art Modern style of those years. Banded steel casement windows are carried across the facades, and they are played off against the white stucco walls. In an advertisement by the Portland Cement Association in the February 1939 issue of Better Homes and Gardens, the homeowner is quoted as saying, “I prefer modern—and the cost must be low.”
