The popularity of the California bungalow continued on through the mid-1920s, as this one-and-a-half-story dwelling attests. The elements of the style are all here: a low structure that hugs the ground; shingle walls; broad overhanging gable and roof ends with exposed rafter ends; brackets to support the roof overhang on the gabled ends; and the rafter tails carried out beyond the roof's edge. If one thinks of the twenties as the moment for the historic imagery of the period revival, then dwellings such as this were well behind the latest fashion.
