One could well drive by this two-and-a-half-story Romanesque Revival building and assume it was a county courthouse rather than a school building. The architect produced a square box and then through a slight play of surfaces and the injection of a corner tower, roof gables, and dormers, he was able to produce a picturesque form. The usual Richardsonian ornament is present, including the sunflower motif.
