Meigs House

The reference in this house—a two-story Colonial Revival dwelling in stone, with a shed roof carried across the lower floor above the first-floor windows—is to the Pennsylvania Colonial. There is an entrance porch with a wide pediment and Doric columns, and a large screened living porch to the side. The house was built by the federal government as the official residence for Montgomery Meigs, the engineer-in-charge of the lock and drydock on the river immediately below this site.
