The Masonic Temple building of 1879 is the tallest of these three contiguous commercial blocks. The designer of the Masonic Temple block has employed a high, semi-circular gable to emphasize the distinct entrance to the temple. He has suggested that this is a distinct entity by pulling pilasters forward from the walls of the building and then providing a separate pediment. The smaller two-story commercial building at the end of these three buildings still retains a cast-iron railing atop the cornice.
