1903–1904, Mauran, Russell, and Garden. Cedar St., between 2nd and 3rd streets

This brick and stone-trimmed building is the type of design that would have been referred to as “Georgian” at the time it was built. The ends of the gables and of the entrance gable have parapets. The entrance is elaborately detailed with a stone arch over the door supported by engaged columns. The earth has been built up around the building to minimize the height of its raised basement. The library is situated within its own tree-planted park, and smaller shrubbery carries the greenery up to the base of the building.
