Described as “modernistic,” the courthouse has been called “an office building rather than a pile of brick, stone, and mortar.” 1 Its design is indeed PWA Moderne, a three-story block balanced on two sides by single-story wings. The light buff-colored brick walls are trimmed in Indiana limestone. There is characteristic Art Deco ornamentation—scrolls, sunbursts, sunflowers—throughout the building.
