The midwestern Prairie box, with its wide, overhanging hipped roof, is here enlarged to form a substantial upper-middle-class suburban dwelling. The horizontal banding of the design is carried out by its brick-clad base, by a horizontal band of windows and front screen porch, by a low hipped roof carried out over the first-floor windows, and finally by the second-floor stucco band with its horizontal banks of windows. The exterior remains essentially unaltered except for the addition of a carport to the right of the house.
