Clermont State Bank Building (now Clermont Museum)
By elevating the building several steps above the street level on a raised basement, the architect of this small two-story brick-and-stone structure declared that it is a bank, not a retail store. This quality is further reinforced by the large front window with a gently curved lunette above. The Richardsonian Romanesque style is primarily conveyed in the first-floor front, which almost seems to have been placed like a stage set in front of a simple brick building. A touch of refinement comes from the three stubby polished granite columns holding up the arches of the entrance and front window.
