Like the Corey house of 1914 ( NO144), this house is derived from the Chicago work of George W. Maher. The solidity of the classical has been updated by references to what was going on at the turn of the century in Vienna. The rectangular block of the house is covered by an extended hipped roof supported by a wide entablature. The walls are of smooth Roman brick, which aids in making the building read as horizontal. On the first floor is a wide porch supported by heavy brick piers with highly stylized capitals.
