One of the largest rehabilitation projects ever conducted in the country, this one successfully adapted large portions of the American Tobacco Company (Lucky Strike) Factory for apartment use. The development incorporates many of the amenities of suburban apartment complexes, including a clubhouse, parking, and swimming pool. The complex extends to Cary Street, where a mile-long row of industrial buildings and warehouses creates a solid wall of industrial buildings. With largely open space on the south side of Cary Street, the Tobacco Row district offers one of the most striking architectural vistas in the city of Richmond.
