Munro House (George C. Munro House)

This chaste Greek Revival house is the oldest brick building in Hillsdale County. The two-story gable front is flanked by two shorter wings with fluted Doric-columned porches. In spite of its symmetrical massing, the entrance is off center to the right of the main pedimented block. A one-story pedimented porch occupies the second floor of the end bay, and an elliptical fanlight pierces the pediment of the central section. The house was built by George C. Munro (b. 1814), operator of a gristmill and general store.
