Daniell Heights Housing (Sheldon Heights)

This housing designed by Yamasaki for married students invokes in its imagery the steeply pitched roofs, the elevated walks known as “Calumet snow walks,” and the clustering of company houses such as those found at mining locations. Indeed, when viewed from Hancock and Ripley, the complex resembles these earlier utilitarian clusters. This is an unusually sensitive regional statement by Yamasaki.
