This is the oldest of Michigan’s churches. The red brick exterior is elaborately trimmed with brick corbeling, limestone cornice trim, and a limestone water table. Standing on a stone foundation made by a Finnish stonecutter, the gabled front presents a beautifully proportioned octagonal tower at one corner, with a brick parapet at the opposite, linked by a blind arcade.
