The third public library established in Nevada continues to serve Tonopah. Few changes have been made to this small one-story, hip-roofed stone building except for enclosing the front porch with screens. Grace R. Moore and Marjorie Moore Brown, two local residents, led the move to erect a building to house a gift of 200 books from Tonopah resident George F. Weeks. Unlike many earlier mining towns, Tonopah quickly changed from a camp to a community of families. Many women organized social and service groups that helped to stabilize mining town society.
