Visitor Center (Foreman's House)

-A A +A
Foreman's House
1940s
  • Floyd Lamb State Park, Visitor Center (Foreman's House) (Julie Nicoletta)

The largest domestic building on the ranch, this house has a small central entry section with a low porch flanked by lower, increasingly recessed room sections. A low ell extends from the rear. Gable ends are sheathed with horizontal wood boards, and the concrete block walls are covered with thick paint. Most windows are metal casement; some wrap around the building's corners in a manner derived from publications about the International Style.
