One of the most handsome nineteenth-century farmsteads remaining in Greene County, the red roofs on the house and outbuildings attract attention. The classic western Pennsylvania red brick farmhouse of five bays, two stories, and a gable roof continued to be built locally from 1800 through the 1880s. The only variations here from the standard form are the segmental-arched windows and Eastlake porch ornamentation. The wooden farm buildings close to the house are rapidly disappearing on other farms, since they no longer meet the needs of modern agricultural operations. Here, they are attractively preserved.
