Huebner Hall

-A A +A
1959–1961, Mitchell/Giurgola Architects

The first building on the campus, Huebner Hall reflects the impact of Louis I. Kahn's Richards Medical Research Building ( PH147.13) at the University of Pennsylvania on his colleagues in the university's Graduate School of Fine Arts. Romaldo Giurgola drew on Kahn's distinction between served and servant spaces, creating a central core of lobbies and elevators serving the office wings on either side while furthering Kahn's exploration of brick load-bearing and precast screen wall elements.
