This depot is the only remaining structure of a complex of facilities built at Lewistown Junction by the Pennsylvania Railroad from 1848 on. Originally constructed for freight, it was redesigned as a passenger station in 1868 with a front tower and attached passenger shelters. Completely restored, it now houses the archives of the Pennsylvania Railroad Technical and Historical Society, and provides a waiting room for Amtrak passengers traveling on the Norfolk Southern Railroad.
