Narragansett Hotel (Lake Shore Dining Hall, Samuel D. Mott House)

-A A +A
Lake Shore Dining Hall, Samuel D. Mott House
Before 1800, house. 1890s and later, dining hall and hotel. West side of northernmost point of Ocean Ave. (at West Side Rd.)

The oldest building in this complex is the Samuel D. Mott House, a late-eighteenth-century central-chimney dwelling that is one of the oldest two-story buildings on the island. The two-story hotel, with a mansard roof, sunbonnet gables, and a wraparound porch and large dining hall at the rear, is typical of the waterside (here overlooking the Great Salt Pond) hotels of the turn of the century.
