Robert Henderson House

-A A +A
1930–1931. 409 East Shore Rd.

The early-twentieth-century “colonial” shingled theme continues in a different key in this Sears, Roebuck cottage assembled from a kit of parts, a model Sears marketed as “The Crescent.” The explosively overlarge arched, pedimented, and columned entrance stoop quite overwhelms the squarish cross-gabled box behind. Style elevates function.
