Another of the balustraded, hip-roofed, monitor-topped Kingston queens, the Asa Potter House is especially grand by reason of the larger-than-normal size of its elevation and a raised porch with its own hipped roof supported on slender Doric columns that are surprisingly attentuated for its width. This shelters a door with side lights and transom in leaded tracery, more ornamental than the Aldrich door, but still restrained as such treatments go. Adjacent, at number 1299, Potter built his law office in 1831.
