Main Office Building

-A A +A
1904, Lockwood, Greene and Company; 1919 addition, J. Bryant Heard. Wood Ave. at W. Main St.
  • (HABS; Photograph by Tim Buchman)

This twentieth-century red brick version of an Italian Renaissance palazzo has a low-pitched red tile roof, deep eaves supported by brackets, a symmetrical facade, and classical detailing. Heard's addition, the right-hand half of the building, is so skillfully blended with the original section that it appears to have all been constructed at the same time. The building is now empty and waiting a new use.
