Commercial Building (Eberhards and Meeve Building)
Another likely Leffland, the former Eberhards and Meeve Building repeats the compositional formula of the Chilton Building ( GB3), while reversing the wall and trim values of, in this case, the red and gold brick combination.
Across E. East Street, facing S. Market Street, is the former First National Bank Building (1913) by Houston architects Green and Finger. Although it has lost its cornice and had its inset portico fenced in, the building holds its side of the square with the architectural presence expected of classical temple banks.
