Built by the American General Insurance Company, once Houston's largest locally owned insurance company, this twenty-five-story concrete and glass tower has always been admired for its cool grace along Allen Parkway. Overhanging floor slabs that shade the tower's deeply recessed curtain wall represented the high style during the 1960s of building an air-conditioned tower in Houston's sunny climate.
