Built as the Houston base of a Mexican Pentecostal religious community over a five-year period, the Templo de la Luz del Mundo is a startling site along the Eastex Freeway. Sheathed in white marble, the Ionic-columned prayer hall evokes the early-nineteenth-century Church of la Madeleine in Paris, with a gold dome and curved hyphens added for emphasis.
