Located in the state park are two dogtrot log houses featuring diamond-shaped notching; the one closer to the parking lot is poorly restored. On the better-preserved cabin closest to U.S. 290, the chimney stacks are placed on the end walls typical of the Anglo-American tradition, but the owner was of German descent, Casper Danz. Like the Sauer-Beckmann Farm ( NB68.1), these buildings stand on their original sites, here on the open prairie.
