Dedicated in 1970 and extending two miles along both banks of the Pedernales River, the two parks commemorate the life and career of Lyndon B. Johnson. The state park includes a number of sites displaying life on the frontier and a visitors' center with exhibits of Johnson memorabilia. The national park includes Johnson's (reconstructed) boyhood home, the White House complex, and his childhood school.
