Baumgarten Cottonseed Oil Mill

West of the commercial district in the 800 and 900 blocks of N. Main Street and parallel to the railroad is an agricultural and industrial area. This conglomeration of vernacular metal-clad buildings with their various roof pitches and geometric shapes is a clear reminder of the importance of agriculture to the economy of the town. The mill is a two-story building made with kiln-fired brick from the Foersters Creek clay nearby. Cottonseed oil was barreled and stored here.
