In the nineteenth-century, Madison Square was one of the more upscale residential sections of San Antonio, although its character has been dramatically altered by newer construction and has lost its character as a residential community. The tower of this Gothic Revival church resembles James Wahrenberger's work at St. Joseph Catholic Church ( SA13) but there is no record of his involvement here.
