Federal Building (U.S. Post Office)
This small but handsomely detailed Renaissance-style building is one of the best of its type in the state produced under the tenure of James Knox Taylor. The tawny brickwork combined with the monumental triple-arched entrance and bracketed cornice make a building that looks at home in the hot Texas climate. This is the sort of work that often is described as Mediterranean, combining as it does elements that are common to more than one European source.
