The Falls County Commissioners Court donated three lots in 1851 for Baptist, Methodist, and Presbyterian churches. Organized in 1852, First Baptist Church is one of the city's oldest congregations. This is the second location for the church. Though more restrained than the nearby First United Methodist Church ( WT38), this Gothic Revival church in dark red brick with limestone accents builds up to a pinnacled tower.
