A small village near the West Walker River on Nevada 208, Wellington is a service center for Smith Valley. The area was settled in the 1860s and, like Mason Valley, became a rich agricultural region. Wellington also functioned as a stage stop for the mining town of Aurora. Despite recent development in the form of mobile homes and prefabricated houses scattered across the landscape, the small town center remains largely intact.
