La Jara School

-A A +A
1930s?. Northeast corner of Poplar and Main sts.

This two-story, red brick school building is an unusual local example of vernacular Streamline Moderne style. The design employs curves and horizontal lines, with a cantilevered entrance canopy trimmed in bright aluminum. Ribbon windows and glass block, as well as the flat roof, further accent the horizontality.
